History of AutoCAD
AutoCAD was originally released as an industry standard called Acme. It was developed by Acme Corporation as one of the first CAD products to have a graphical user interface (GUI) and it was the first product that allowed designers to work directly with blocks of 2D and 3D objects, among other features. In the 1980s, most CAD software ran on mainframe computers or minicomputers, with each CAD operator (user) working at a separate graphics terminal. Acme was designed to run on a microcomputer with an internal graphics controller. Acme was an attempt to create a standard for CAD, following the same method that Adobe Illustrator became an industry standard for image editing. Acme did not become popular, because it was difficult to distribute on a wide scale. A similar problem prevented the company’s other product, the CAD/CAM Fusion System, to become popular.
In early 1990s, Acme Corporation was purchased by Autodesk. Autodesk released Acme with the name “AutoCAD”. The acronym Autodesk was also added to distinguish it from Acme. AutoCAD CAD software was designed to run on personal computers or workstations that had a variety of types of graphics display monitors, including video monitors. AutoCAD applications became widely used in design professions such as architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering.

I have a simple form containing a select box. Each select box contains three options, as shown here:

I would like to detect when the user selects any option. I’ve tried to add onchange=”alert(this.value);” to the select box but it doesn’t work. If I change this to onclick=”alert(this.value);” it works.
Is this a bug in jQuery? Is there a way to get around this?

Use onchange=”alert($(this).val());” instead of onchange=”alert(this.value);”.
In jQuery v1.4.3, the difference is that this.value is jQuery-wrapped, and so it’s undefined.

If you use the.change() event for a select box you must explicitly make the value a string. As it is now it is parsed as a number.

To evaluate the diagnostic performance of coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) in the detection of coronary artery disease (CAD) compared with invasive coronary angiography (ICA). Our institutional review board approved the study, and informed consent was obtained from all patients. Coronary CTA and ICA were performed in 96 patients (88 male and eight female patients, aged 56.1 ± 11.8 years). Three-dimensional CTA was performed with a 64-slice CT (Sensation Cardiac, Siemens). Patients underwent ECG-gated CCTA and ICA, performed with standard contrast injection and injected with intracoronary (up to 90 mL) nitroglycerin (0.4 mg/kg). In the patients with a positive test (n = 25), CCTA was compared with ICA, whereas in the patients with a negative test (n = 71), CCTA was compared with noninvasive coronary angiography (NICA) and ECG. Agreement between CCTA and ICA was analyzed with κ statistics. Sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values were calculated. Data were analyzed with use of commercially available software. The prevalence of CAD was 84.2% (n = 80). CCTA was able to depict lesions not identified by ICA in 77 (85.6%) of 88 patients with obstructive CAD; 67 (92.9%) of 72 patients with nonobstructive CAD were correctly identified.
