In addition to the general-purpose features of traditional CAD software, such as 2D drafting and basic 3D modeling, AutoCAD provides additional types of functions. A diagram of the typical work process for a design engineer using AutoCAD is shown in figure 1. First, the design engineer creates a drawing or model using 2D drafting tools such as line and arc. This is followed by importing a drawing or model to generate an annotative drawing, in which color is applied to models and text is added, and then editing and manipulating 2D and 3D models. Once the model is completed, it is converted into a 2D drawing for rendering (visual display) and to export for further use by the design engineer.

Overview of AutoCAD

AutoCAD is an integrated, integrated development environment (IDE) integrated with Autodesk® AutoCAD® software, which is primarily used for creating 2D and 3D models. The primary work space in AutoCAD is a 2D view. In the 2D view, the user may draw directly in the drawing area using drawing tools such as line and arc. Models (i.e., 3D geometry) may be generated by importing a drawing into the 2D view or by directly creating a 3D model using 3D tools. The 2D and 3D drawings may then be annotated and manipulated using drawing tools.

Annotative Drawing

A 2D annotative drawing is an empty drawing, which provides a surface for 2D content. It has the same format as a regular 2D drawing, but its creation is limited to editing and manipulating 2D objects. Annotative drawing is used to create a 2D drawing from a 2D model. For example, an engineer may make a 2D drawing (line and arc), import it into an annotative drawing, and place a label on the model.

2D Drawing

A 2D drawing is a blank drawing that is not annotative. A 2D drawing does not need to be empty. It is possible to add content to a 2D drawing.

AutoLISP is a scripting language. It is an object-oriented dialect of Lisp. The AutoLISP dialect was developed at the Autodesk Lab (formerly known as the Autodesk Research Lab) and first released in AutoCAD 1982.

Visual LISP
Visual LISP is an interpreted language that runs on a graphical programming environment such as AutoCAD. It runs in parallel with AutoCAD’s commands. AutoLISP and Visual LISP are two very similar languages. There are several differences, such as the use of AutoLISP symbols for graphical programming, versus the use of Visual LISP symbols for control programming, with the control language being more powerful and capable than AutoLISP.

In Visual LISP, commands and definitions are stored in blocks, which are self-contained, executable units. Commands in blocks include those related to basic AutoCAD operations. The blocks are stored within a list that is associated with a project. The list can include multiple commands and their blocks, and is the unit for organizing commands. A command block, when executed, performs the action, as defined in the command. A block that consists of a single command executes immediately. A block that consists of several commands executes when the first command in the block is executed.

AutoLISP has no concept of blocks. Commands are the basic programming element in AutoLISP. They are stored in lists. Lists are hierarchical, and have two parts, the command list and the execution list. An AutoLISP program is made up of all the execution lists.

The execution lists are sequences of statements and actions.

Language overview
AutoLISP is a dialect of the Lisp programming language. The syntax of AutoLISP follows the syntax of the Lisp programming language, with some differences.

Although much of the nursing research and education literature refers to attending to specific technical competencies such as cardiac resuscitation, nurses have been asked to perform a broad array of clinical activities. The aim of this paper is to report on a study that explored the nursing education role in the context of nursing practice, highlighting key issues, concerns and recommendations for further research and practice. A qualitative study of the nursing education role using an interpretive methodology. Participants were fourteen registered nurses enrolled in a baccalaureate degree programme in an Australian university. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and analysed using thematic analysis. The themes that emerged included: ethical challenges; increased autonomy; increased responsibility; and strategic planning. The study highlights a need to examine the relationship between education and practice. Staff nurses and educators can learn from each other. Increased understanding of how students are prepared to work in practice is needed.
