The present invention relates to a sampling clock synchronous detector circuit in which, when a sampling clock at a predetermined sampling frequency is given, a clock signal at a half frequency of the sampling clock is caused to synchronize with the sampling clock, thereby achieving sampling of a pulse signal such as a radar pulse, in particular, a pulse signal having a high peak.
2. Description of the Related Art
In recent years, an increase in the number of radar pulses sent has been a problem in a communication device or the like that sends and receives radar pulses. This is because the amount of data to be transmitted and received over a communication channel is large. In other words, it is essential to increase the rate of transmission and reception of data. However, an increase in the transmission and reception rate of data tends to cause an increase in the amount of data to be transmitted and received and, accordingly, a problem such as an increase in the number of pulses of a target signal to be received and a decrease in the degree of separation between pulses. In particular, when an observer is supposed to detect each pulse of the pulse signal precisely in comparison with a pulse of another pulse signal and execute separation therebetween (refer to e.g. Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 11-249047), the degree of separation between pulses decreases. A method of increasing the degree of separation between pulses by increasing a sampling frequency and narrowing the pulses of a target signal becomes a first solution. However, it is not desirable to increase the sampling frequency as it lowers the S/N ratio of an input signal. For this reason, a second solution has been adopted, wherein the pulse of a target signal is extracted by detecting the second and higher harmonics of a pulse generated from the sampling clock, which is synchronized with the pulse of the target signal.
However, the S/N ratio of an input signal decreases as the sampling frequency is increased. In order to suppress a decrease in the S/N ratio, an increase in the sampling frequency is not preferable, and thus, an increase in the number of harmonics is problematic.
If the sampling frequency is increased and the pulses of the target signal are narrow, noise components contained in the pulse of the target signal are nonlinear in a baseband signal obtained by sampling the target signal at the sampling frequency
